Doha, Qatar – With the final brushstroke laid and the last note fading into the night, 21 High st.’s month-long Live Art Exhibition has drawn to a memorable close. Held every weekend throughout September in the heart of Katara, this vibrant series of events transformed the promenade into a living gallery—immersing visitors in the rhythm, color, and spirit of Qatari art and identity.
In partnership with the Qatar Fine Arts Association, 21 High st. hosted 11 leading artists each week, each creating original works in real-time. These weren’t just paintings—they were performances. From abstract interpretations of Qatari heritage to traditional motifs, every tapestry unfolded a story deeply rooted in place and expression.
The evenings were further elevated by immersive acoustics and a shared atmosphere of curiosity and creativity. Spectators didn’t just observe; they engaged—asking questions, learning histories, and witnessing cultural narratives take shape before their eyes.
Speaking during the closure, the President of the Qatar Fine Arts Association, Mr. Youssef Al Sada, shared that the event was more than an exhibition—it was a dialogue between tradition and innovation, between artist and audience. “We wanted to celebrate Qatari culture not as something static, but as something living, evolving, and expressive,” he added.
Beyond the live art, a curated exhibition of completed artworks and the stories behind them allowed guests to delve deeper into the minds and methods of the featured artists. From evocative portraits to conceptual pieces exploring modern identity, the collection resonated with depth and diversity.
The General Manager of 21 High st., Ms. Evelyne de Croutte, reflected, “Creating art in public is raw, vulnerable, and powerful. But it’s also freeing—it allows us to connect with people in real-time, and that connection is what art is truly about.”
The 21 High st. Live Art Exhibition has left an indelible mark—not just on canvas, but in the hearts of those who wandered, watched, and wondered.
